I’ve Got Thyme

This being my first herb garden, I have no expectations about how it’s going to work beyond what the seed package says to expect. In this regard, the one on the thyme packet is wrong. I’m getting thyme sprouts already.

Meanwhile, I’m watering the other seeds a couple times a week. My hope is that the soil starts firming up and I can get some cilantro for my hot sauces and the parsley for other stuff. I haven’t been back to the store to see if there’s other stuff for me to buy. My mom might want me to pick up some lavender. I might end up doing that as a secret surprise.

As for the outside garden, I want to see about getting something to put over the ground after I till it. That way, it’ll prevent weeds from growing. If I till it early without the covering, I’ll have to weed an empty plot until it comes time to actually plant stuff.

My planting plans have been finalized. I’m going to put out radishes, carrots, onions, and lettuce in February. By the time they’re all done, I’ll be ready to transplant the peppers and tomatoes. I’m really excited to see if my bell pepper seeds will be good.

    • Anything to prevent photosynthesis would be ideal, but I’ve also got to worry about drainage and the local fauna. I think I might just have to suck it up and manually keep the patch clear.
